{Event Recap} Apple of My Eye Baby Shower

Apples, apples and more apples! That was the theme this last fall for Dina's baby shower. Dina told me the name of her daughter to-be was going to be Scarlett, so I wanted to play off of that and use lots of scarlet reds in the party. So after going over lots of different red themes I landed on "Apple of My Eye" and ran with it!

My first step in creating a design is usually to select a palette. I knew the party would be held at the mother to-be's house and her living room is painted a beautiful light blue, so I loved including that in the colors to tie the entire room into the design. I then went shopping for a fabric and fell in love with this beautiful linen. It led me to my accent color: green. Set with the colors I pulled together the rest of the design for the event. I wanted to create a juxtaposition of both vintage and modern in the design to reflect Dina's personal style. I love how the girly floral linen played off of the clean white lines of the dishes and and background decor. As well as the simplicity of the single branches of eucalyptus along the back of the dessert table.

The food was super easy to come up with because of the theme: apples, apples and more apples! The desserts (always the fun part to plan) included:

Sugar Cookies designed to match the theme

Apple Tarts

Apple Shaped Cake Pops

Chocolate Apple Tree Cupcakes

Apple Butter and Berry Cake

Crumble Mini Donuts

Macaroons, Cinnamon Rolls,
and Chocolate Covered Strawberries

For the appetizers and lunch there was: Apple & Kale Salad, Roasted Vegetable Orzo

Apple and Grilled Onion Baked Brie

Apple Cheddar Pizza

Blueberry Soup Cups

Egg Casseroles

The drinks served were Chai Apple Cider, Hot Apple Cider, Champagne and Coffee

During the party the guests got to participate in lots of fun games and activities as well. Each guest was asked to write a wish for baby Scarlett and her family on a paper apple and hang it from a decorative tree.

The centerpieces on the tables were baskets full of newborn diapers. Each guest was asked to write a funny note on each diaper to entertain the new parents during late night changes.

There were also games played where each guest had to come up with animal baby names, figure which of the new parents matched with some baby facts, and don't say "baby".

Here are some more fun pictures of other party details for everyone to enjoy!
